How to Install Resurrection Remix ROM in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Xiaomis poor device update service, I doubt it will receive Android Marshmallow update. Anyways, its time to use CM 12.1 ROM in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. If you dont know about Cyanogenmod, CM is a open source Android OS that is built from Android base with many customization options & themes which are not found in Stock Android. As far as I have used many different ROMs, I find Resurrection Remix the best Android OS which uses CM sources i.e More customizations. Resurrection Remix (RR) CM 12.1 based ROM for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.


Prerequisites before Installing RR ROM:
- Root & Install TWRP Recovery
- Check the battery percentage of the phone, it should be at least 40%.
- This ROM is only for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Please dont try this on any other smartphones.
- Backup all your data: Contacts, Photos, Apps & other files. (Although you will not lose other files except contacts & Apps, but its better to be on the safer side)
Download Resurrection Remix (CM 12.1) Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
- Resurrection Remix ROM: Download.
- GApps 5.1.1: Download
How to Install Resurrection Remix ROM in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3
Step 1. Download the ROM & Gapps file from the below link & transfer it in your Internal storage.
Step 2. Switch off your device & boot into recovery mode. Goto Backup & Restore. Select System, data, boot & swipe to confirm.
Step 3. Go to Wipe, Select System, data, cache & dalvik cache. Swipe to confirm wipe.
Step 4. Goto Install, Select the ROM zip file & flash it. Wait for 4-5 mins until the install is complete.
Step 5. Again go to Install & select Gapps zip file. Once the procedure is completed. Goto System > Press reboot.
Step 6. First boot might take 4-5 mins. Calm down!

Download Update MIUI 8 Alpha ROM for Xiaomi Devices
Xiaomi already started accepting applications from various Mi and Redmi smartphone users as a beta testers on its official MIUI forum. These users are responsible for testing MIUI 8 China/Global Developer ROMs on their respective Xiaomi devices and have to report the bugs and issues if any. Doing this, they will help in making the ROM stable and then the update can be pushed to other users.

2. Download the latest Mi Flash tool and install on your computer.
3. Turn off the device and boot into Fastboot mode (press the Volume key and Power button at the same time).
4. Now you need to connect your device to PC.
5. Then download the MIUI 8 China Alpha ROM from the below link and extract the same. Open the file folder and copy its path.
6. Paste the ROM folder path in the Flash tool address bar and tap on Refresh. Now the tool automatically recognize the device.
7. Just tap Flash button located beside the Refresh button to start the flashing process.
8. Be patience and wait till the progress bar completely turns green which indicates that the rom has been successfully installed.

- Everyone who has above devices can flash the ROM
- MIUI 8 China Alpha Team members will get the normal OTA updates if you have MIUI 8 installed.
- Normal users will not receive the normal OTA updates after flashing the MIUI 8 China Alpha ROM.

1) First, Download the Mi Flash Unlock Tool from above and extract it.
2)Now open the extracted folder and run the MiFlashUnlock.exe file.

3) Now login to your MI account, if you dont have one then create new Mi id.

4) After the successful login, the validation process will start on your phone, and for the first time, you will get a message that You dont have the permission to Unlock the device
5) Now click on the Go button or use Go to MIUI Unlock page to receive the unlocking permission.
6) Now click on the Unlock Now and log in with your Mi account details and fill all details.

7) You will get OTP for confirmation use it to complete the process.

8) Now wait until your application gets approved, you will receive the OTP password on your phone number once its approved.

How to Root Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon 650 variant
If you are looking forward to rooting your Redmi Note 3 and have the custom ROMs, you first will need a custom recovery. For that, the developers have managed to develop a TWRP 3.0.0, the latest materialistic recovery. Keeping noted that this rooting and flashing TWRP method works only with the Snapdragon 650 version and not with the MTK versions of the phones. Follow the below instructions to successfully root your device.

Warning: The rooting and installing custom ROMs process may be riskful. You could brick your device. However, not to worry about warranty becoming void because it is a Xiaomi phone and they do cover the devices under warranty if rooted.
NOTE:
The root access is now available. Now, you can flash Custom ROMs and Xposed modules in your device. As we see, there are not many Custom ROMs as of now for the Snapdragon variant.

NOTE:
- You need to have your bootloader unlocked in order to perform the below process. Click here to see the instructions to know how to unlock the bootloader.
- This method is only for the Snapdragon variant. Do not try this with other variants which you have bought from Chinese websites.
- Do follow the instructions step by step and read it thoroughly
- The process erases all the data including your internal storage. So, please take a complete back-up of your device before starting. (Recommended to root and install TWRP as soon as you unlock your bootloader).
- Make sure that your phone has at least 50% battery.
- ADB and Fastboot drivers for windows. Download from XDA Forum

- SuperSu.zip copy it to your phones internal root directory Download
- Verify your device for compatibility. The listed firmware is compatible with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant only. Also, take a complete backup of your device because the process will erase all the data.
- Enable USB Debugging on your device. To do so, go to Settings>About Phone> Tap on the MIUI version several times until you get a new Developer Options in the additional settings. Open Developer Options and enable USB Debugging from there. Trust the connection by allowing it when you connect it to your PC for the first time and check the always box there. Also, make sure that OEM Unlock is enabled in developer options.
- Connect your device to PC via USB with the above requirements.
- Boot your device into Fastboot mode.
- Extract the TWRP file that you have downloaded. Its named as Kenzo_V6.3.17_boot.
- Open and run the Boot.bat file from the extracted folder and follow the instruction in setup. Your phone may or may not reboot after running the file. In either way, you have to boot it back to fasboot again.
- After entering into fastboot again, run the Twrp3.bat file and follow the instructions in setup. And then, your device will reboot into TWRP recovery.
- The default language in TWRP will be Chinese. So, consider the following screenshot and change the language.
- Now, after changing the language, swipe the button.
- Then, navigate to Install in TWRP recovery and select the SuperSu file that you have placed in the root directory of your internal storage. Swipe the button and reboot! Youre all done now.
The root access is now available. Now, you can flash Custom ROMs and Xposed modules in your device. As we see, there are not many Custom ROMs as of now for the Snapdragon variant.
