How to install Android Marshmallow on HTC One M8 via Blues custom ROM

Custom ROM developer Blues has released the Android Marshmallow-based firmware to HTC One (M8).

HTC device owners who are bored with Sense UI and want to explore different interface on One M8 can try installing the Blues custom ROM.

Blues firmware offers visually appealing interface with coloured Navbar, network traffic monitor, performance tweaks and numerous other value-added features.

Prerequisites (things to remember before installing Custom ROM)

Though installing custom ROM improves the devices performance and UI experiences, it makes the company warranty void; the company will no longer be liable to provide updates in future [users can restore warranty by flashing the device with stock-ROM].

Make sure the device is rooted before going ahead with custom ROM installation.

Installation of custom ROM requires clearing memory in the phone, so make sure to back all the data by installing Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/TWRP in the smartphone.

Make sure USB driver is installed in the PC or else your device (HTC One M8) will not be recognised by the computer.

Make sure your device has more than 80% battery.

Step-by-step installation procedure of Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM on HTC One M8:

Step 1: After downloading Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM and Google Apps in to the PC, connect HTC One M8 to the Computer via USB cord

HTC One (M8) Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM: HERE

Step 2: Place Android 6.0 Marshmallow custom ROM zip file and Google Apps file into the phones SD card memory

[Note: Users are advised to paste the .zip file in SD card root, not in any other folder]

[Note: Before installing the custom software, be sure that the device must have been rooted and has installed ClockworkMod Recovery tool]

Step 3: Place boot.img file in the android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools directory

Step 4: Turn off the device and disconnect from the PC

Step 5: Perform the regular Bootloader mode sortie, by press holding Volume (down), and Power buttons

Step 6: After entering the Bootloader mode (on the phone), go to android-sdk-windowsplatform-tools (on the PC) and open Command prompt and type in: fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter

(To enter Command prompt: Shift + right-click >> open command Prompt)

Step 7: Type: fastboot reboot and follow instructions displayed on the screen. Select BOOTLOADER option to enter Recovery Mode

Step 8: Once entering the Recovery mode, clear the phone memory, by choosing wipe data/factory reset

[Note: use Volume keys to navigate and power button to select options, while operating under Recovery Mode]

Step 9: Clear the cache memory by selecting wipe cache partition

Step 10: Return to the ClockworkMod recovery, and select advanced and tap wipe dalvik cache

[Note: This step is optional, but many recommend this procedure so that user will not face boot loops or any other errors in the middle of custom ROM installation]

Step 11: Navigate back to the main recovery screen and then tap install zip from SD card

Step 13: Tap choose zip from sdcard and go to Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM .zip file in SD card and enter the installation process. Repeat the procedure for installing Google Apps

[Note: use Volume keys to navigate and Power button to select options]

Step 14: Once done with the installation process, navigate to +++++Go Back+++++ and re-start the device by opting reboot system now seen in the recovery menu

Now, your device (HTC One M8) will take at a few minutes to complete the booting process

Users then head to Settings >> select About phone to confirm the installation of Blues Android Marshmallow custom ROM

How to Install Resurrection Remix ROM in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Xiaomi’s poor device update service, I doubt it will receive Android Marshmallow update. Anyways, its time to use CM 12.1 ROM in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. If you don’t know about Cyanogenmod, CM is a open source Android OS that is built from Android base with many customization options & themes which are not found in Stock Android. As far as I have used many different ROMs, I find Resurrection Remix the best Android OS which uses CM sources i.e More customizations. Resurrection Remix (RR) CM 12.1 based ROM for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

Prerequisites before Installing RR ROM:

Root & Install TWRP Recovery
Check the battery percentage of the phone, it should be at least 40%.
This ROM is only for Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Please don’t try this on any other smartphones.
Backup all your data: Contacts, Photos, Apps & other files. (Although you will not lose other files except contacts & Apps, but its better to be on the safer side)

How to Install Resurrection Remix ROM in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Step 1. Download the ROM & Gapps file from the below link & transfer it in your Internal storage.

Step 2. Switch off your device & boot into recovery mode. Goto Backup & Restore. Select System, data, boot & swipe to confirm.

Step 3. Go to Wipe, Select System, data, cache & dalvik cache. Swipe to confirm wipe.

Step 4. Goto Install, Select the ROM zip file & flash it. Wait for 4-5 mins until the install is complete.

Step 5. Again go to Install & select Gapps zip file. Once the procedure is completed. Goto System > Press reboot.

Step 6. First boot might take 4-5 mins. Calm down!

Install Android 6 0 1 NobleROM on Galaxy S6 G920I Custom ROM

This is based on official Samsung 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware. This opens up all Galaxy S7 Edge exclusive features on the simple Galaxy S6 G920I. This ROM also features TouchWiz UI and Galaxy S7 Edge Camera App as well. And with that, you will be able to update Samsung Galaxy S6 G920I to Android 6.0.1 NobleROM Marshmallow using this complete tutorial. To Remember:

Hey guys,

Sorry in advance if this has been posted in the wrong area, but it seemed the most appropriate.

Been looking around to see what head units are available for my car (07 Mazda 6) at the moment and unfortunately there isnt much choice; a rare and expensive 2DIN dash kit and a Newsmy unit or one of these Last time I looked these werent available so its a bit more appealing.

Im not interested in it if the firmware hasnt been torn apart and fixed by members here though, so I was hoping that somebody could identify who makes this particular unit.

Step 1: Download and install device driver software on your computer.

If you have used Kingo android Root already, skip this step. Otherwise, do it manually. Following are ways to do this...

Visit Samsung official website to find the correspondent driver software.
Google the driver software of your device. Download and then install it on you computer.
Download or update Kies, part of which will install or update drivers.

Once drivers are installed or updated, it is highly recommended that you restart your computer.

Step 2: Download and extract the Stock ROM (Official/Original Firmware).

SamMobilemay be the best choice to download stock firmware of Samsung device. Or you can go toSamsung Updates, XDA Forum or Google to find the correspondent firmware of your device. Samung Stock Firmware Download on SamMobile

Click "Firmware" and enter your device model

Select country or type in certain info to filter, eg.Baseband version.

After downloading it (normally a compressed file), you need to extact/unzip it to certain location of your PC. The file types that Odin uses are *.bin,*.tar and *.tar.md5.

You will find a *.md5 file after extracting.

Step 3: Download and extract Odin on you PC.

You can download Odin V3.10.7 directly from SamMobile. AndroidMTK is a fine alternative, it also offers a detailed list of Odin versions and download link. Or you can always Google "Odin download". After downloading it on your PC, extract it to Desktop or another location youd prefer. Odin v3.10.7 downloaded from SamMobile

After extracting, right-click to "Open as Administrator". It may prevent certain issue from happening.

Run Odin as administartor is recommended.

Step 4: Boot your Samsung device into Download mode.

Follow these steps to enter Download Mode/Odin Mode

Power off your device
Press and hold Volume Down key, Home Key and Power Key
When your device vibrates, release Power key while keep holding the Volume Down key and Homekey

Warning before entering into download mode

Press Volume Up key to enter Download mode, which has a green robot figure and “Downloading… Do not turn off target!!)

Now you are in download mode.

Step 5: Connect your device to PC.

You device should be automatically recognized by Odin. At the lower-left of Odin interface, it should show a message that says "Added!" and in the meantime you should see a light-blue box at the ID:COM section stating "COM:3" (the number depend on which USB port you have plugged the device cable and is irrelevant).

Device is connected to Odin.

Step 6: Click "PDA" or "AP" to add tar.md5 file that you have extracted and then "Start".

Whether it is "PDA" or "AP" depends on the version of Odin that you used. But the md5 file goes to either "PDA" or "AP".

Add *.md5 to Odin.

After adding the file, click "Start" to begin the flashing process.

Click "Start" to flash.

WARNING DO NOT REMOVE OR OPERATE ON YOUR DEVICE UNTIL FINISHED OR FAILED IS SHOWED ON ODIN.

Ongoing flashing process. Do not remove your device.

When the flashing process is done and if everything goes well, you should see a big green box saying "RESET" or "PASSED" (depends on the version of Odin is used). By now, the device should be rebooted and it is safe to remove/unplug your device.

Flash succeeded.

How to Flash MIUI 8 China Alpha ROM 6.5.31 on any Mi & Redmi smartphone

1. Users of Mi5 / Mi Max / Mi Note smartphones need to unlock the bootloader first. Check here for guide on how to unlock bootloader on MIUI devices.

2. Download the latest Mi Flash tool and install on your computer.

3. Turn off the device and boot into Fastboot mode (press the Volume key and Power button at the same time).

4. Now you need to connect your device to PC.

5. Then download the MIUI 8 China Alpha ROM from the below link and extract the same. Open the file folder and copy its path.

6. Paste the ROM folder path in the Flash tool address bar and tap on ‘Refresh’. Now the tool automatically recognize the device.

7. Just tap ‘Flash’ button located beside the Refresh button to start the flashing process.

8. Be patience and wait till the progress bar completely turns green which indicates that the rom has been successfully installed.

You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what youre doing - then fine, go ahead, but please dont complain if you experience strange behavior.

How to fix “Invalid Ext4 Image” when installed ROM Samsung phone

Odin is a helpful tool for Samsung Galaxy devices to flash a stock firmware. The firmware flashing procedure mostly succeeds, provided, you have the correct TAR file [stock firmware file for Samsung]. However, sometimes you may come across failures and end up with a Fail! message in the Odin log. One such error is the “invalid ext4 image” error that you might encounter while flashing the stock firmware onto your Galaxy device.

Today we will guide you how to fix error “ Invalid Ext4 Image .” This is a problem that you may encounter during flash firmware on your Samsung Galaxy phone. “ Invalid Ext4 Image ” is an error that you may encounter when trying to flash the firmware by Odin to upgrade or downgrade on the device Samsung Galaxy . Therefore, before proceeding to resolve the problem, let’s find out how a specific view is EXT4 !

Ext4 is what?

Actually, EXT4 (filesystem Wednesday open wide) is a file format for Linux aims to expand the storage limits and adding other performance enhancements for devices that use the Linux kernel. Since the error “ invalid ext4 image ” closely associated with the partitions stored on your device, it can be overcome by partitioning the internal memory. Installation Instructions:

Step 1: Download the listed firmware for your for your Galaxy device. Extract the zip file to get the firmware with .tar or .tar.md5extension and place at a location where you can easily locate it on your PC.

Step 2: Now boot your device into Download/Odin Mode. To do so, turn off your device completely and then press and hold Power button + Volume Down + Home keys for a few seconds. If you see a warning sign press Volume up/ Volume down to get the Odin screen

Step 3: If you already have Odin software on your PC then simply run the Odin3_3.10.7.exe file. If not, then download the Odin3.zip file from the download section and extract it. Run Odin software as administrator.

Step 4: While your device is still in the Odin Mode, connect your device to your PC using a USB cable.

Step 5: After a successful connection, the ID: COM in the Odin should turn Blueand an Added!! message should be displayed in the Log tab. In case your device doesn’t show up in Odin, then you can troubleshoot it with the steps given at the end of the tutorial.

Step 6: Now click on AP button[or PDA for older Odin] and add the firmware file by navigating to the file path. Once added, it should show like in the image. Take care that only Auto Reboot, Re-Partition, F.Reset Time and Nand Erase are selected in the Options tab.

Step 7: Now select Pit tab and add the pit files

Step 8: Once done, verify everything and proceed with installation by selecting Startbutton
.

Step 9: When you get a PASS! message in the Log tab on your Odin software, that means firmware has successfully been installed and the device will restart itself. If not then reboot manually.

When you see the boot animation, you can enjoy your new firmware. Be patient as first boot may take a while.

However, if the system doesn’t boot up for a long time, then go through the following.

How to Fix Bootloop on Samsung Galaxy Device?

If you come across boot loop or your Samsung Galaxy device is stuck at the boot logo then factory reset your device from the recovery. To do so, turn of your device (also remove the battery if applicable and put it back again) and reboot into recovery mode by press and holding Power + Volume down + Home keys for a few seconds. From the Recovery, select Wipe Data / Factory Reset. Confirm the action and reboot once done. Your device should now boot up.
